
The Ministry expects the syndicate to correct the discrepancies internally. According to Minister for Home Affairs Taina Bofferding, a more in-depth probe was deemed “not necessary”.
Bofferding states that she has taken note of recent news reports about mismanagement within the syndicate. Rumours have been circulating for years, but a recent series of investigative articles published on Reporter.lu led the General Confederation of Local Government (FGFC) to demand official responses to the findings.
To this end, the Minister also met with the management of SIGI. Following this meeting, it was decided to open the path for two internal audits and an external investigation to investigate accusations of bullying, embezzlement, and privacy concerns. SIGI manages the IT infrastructure of nearly all municipalities in Luxembourg.
