PoliceBreak-ins and unrest on Saturday night

RTL Today
The police intervened in 55 separate incidents on Saturday night.

In Luxembourg, the penal code imposes noise restrictions during the night. Compulsory night rest is ordered between 10pm and 7am. But that did not stop certain individuals from causing havoc.

On Saturday night, the police reportedly intervened in more than 50 cases. From verbal spats to physical altercations, the police managed to intervene and clear up most cases at the scene.

However, in one case, the police received a complaint regarding a physical altercation, but it ultimately turned out to be a robbery. The victim was allegedly assaulted and robbed of money by force, and had to be treated in hospital afterwards. An investigation has been launched.

Additionally, the police received reports of two break-ins.

On Saturday afternoon, a bar in Rue Chimay in the City was broken into. Initial reports suggest that a safe was stolen.

During the night on Sunday, there was a break-in at a family home on Rue Gaalgebierg in Junglinster. Among other items, the burglars took away a few watches.

In both cases, a forensics team was called to the scene, and an investigation has been launched.
