Big makeover for Bourglinster's youth hostel: it will be converted into permanent accommodation for 8 girls. During an information session last Monday, Françoise Hetto and Gilles Baum, along with 3 representatives of the State Socio-Educational Centre, explained that the new housing facility will welcome young female delinquents who are transferred to their new location from Luxembourg's youth detention centres.
Director of the State Socio-Educational Centre Ralph Schroeder added that the small group home provides a better setting than traditional congregate care homes to to work with the young women.
Seven to eight social workers will supervise and mentor the eight underage girls around the clock. The building will also be adapted to its new function.
According to Schroeder, building works will be completed in February. He hoped that Bourglinster's residents would take an active part in the integration of the girls into the village community.
