On Wednesday, the Minister of Internal Security published a statement providing additional information on the illegal party in Bambësch which took place in early August.
It emerged that police officers who intervened to stop the gathering were subjected to verbal and physical aggression, with party-goers throwing bottles at the officers and their vehicles.
Similar scenes were experienced by police when dispersing gatherings at the Three Acorns and Kinnekswiss sites in Luxembourg City, said Minister Henri Kox. He added that police were trained in de-escalating such situations and were prepared for the backlash.
Following the Bambësch party, it was rumoured that one reveller had tested positive for Covid-19. However, Kox clarified that around 200 people attended the party, and the rumoured positive case was not identified.
It had not been possible for police to carry out full identity checks and thereby confirm a positive case had been amongst the party-goers.
In terms of consequences, police reports were drawn up on site at the party, particularly for breaching Covid laws as well as laws concerning the protection of nature and natural resources. Kox said these documents have been sent to relevant authorities for the investigation and penalties would be issued in due course.
