It seems like despite the popularity of computer games, board games are still widely loved. The event "Playgirls and Gameboys", which took place on Saturday, revolved around all games, old and new, the aim being to promote and encourage the joy of play. The local municipality and the organisation "Spillfabrik" collaborated to set it up.
Spillfabrik had around 300 games on show at the event, which visitors were able to peruse, and most importantly, test out before purchasing.
Every year, roughly 1,200 new board games are put out worldwide. Spillfabrik wants to familiarise people with the ones you wouldn't find in big stores or chains: they're hoping to provide alternative choices. Escape themed games are especially popular right now. Many board games are also transformed into apps.
