On 11 September 1944, Bettembourg was liberated by US troops, ending four years of German occupation. To honour this historic milestone, a series of events are planned.
The celebrations will begin with a screening of the documentary “The Ghost Army – Operation Bettembourg,” featuring US director Rick Beyer (in English).
On 14 September, the festivities will continue with a parade followed by a “Liberation Party” from 11am to 5pm. This event promises a “US-style” celebration with food stalls and various attractions, including an exhibition of WWII-era military vehicles.
The weekend will conclude with a concert by the Luxembourg Army’s marching band on 15 September.
