During the night leading to Monday, a café on Rue du Canal in Esch was broken into during the night leading to Monday. According to initial police reports, the suspect entered the premises through a window before rifling through the cash register and fleeing the scene.
Shortly after the incident was reported, police launched an investigation and apprehended a suspected burglar in the Rue Dicks area. During a search, officers discovered a tablet and a screwdriver in the man’s possession.
The suspect was detained on the orders of the public prosecutor and was scheduled to appear before an investigating judge on Monday afternoon.
Meanwhile, at around 11.40am on Monday, police were called to a shop on Avenue de la Gare in Luxembourg City following a report of attempted theft.
Two men reportedly tried to steal perfume bottles valued at nearly €1,000. A security guard intervened as one of the suspects attempted to leave the store.
Police arrived at the scene and detained one of the men, recovering the stolen perfume and returning it to the shop. During the check, the suspect also tried to use a fake ID card to pass himself off as someone else.
He was arrested on the orders of the public prosecutor and brought before an investigating judge.
In the early hours of Wednesday morning, another break-in was reported on Boulevard Kennedy in Esch, where an unknown individual stole a toolbox from a van. Police have launched an investigation into this incident as well.
