Luxembourg’s police reported a series of incidents overnight from Thursday to Friday, including home burglaries, vehicle break-ins, and traffic violations.

Two home burglaries, two vehicle break-ins, and a drunk-driver

On Rue Jean Marcatoris in Helmsange, intruders broke into a single-family home after gaining access through a terrace door. Another burglary was reported on Avenue Victor Hugo in Luxembourg City, where the residence was searched and jewellery was stolen. Both cases are under investigation.

In the early hours of Friday morning, a vehicle was broken into in Bettange-sur-Mess, Dippach, with coins taken from inside. A similar incident occurred in Fentange, where sunglasses and a charging device were stolen.

On the A7 in the direction of Mersch, officers noticed a car swerving. The vehicle was stopped on Route d’Arlon, where a breathalyser test revealed the driver was over the limit. The driver’s licence was immediately revoked.

Three men arrested after stealing goods in Luxembourg City

On Thursday afternoon, three men were caught stealing goods from a boutique on Rue de Beggen in Luxembourg City. The perpetrators took several pairs of glasses but were quickly intercepted by a police patrol.

Two of the suspects were arrested on the spot, while the third fled to a nearby supermarket, where he attempted another theft before being apprehended. On the orders of the public prosecutor’s office, all three men were taken into custody and appeared before an investigating judge the following day.

Arrest in Gare district under European warrant

Later that same afternoon, police arrested a man in Luxembourg City’s Gare district who was wanted under a European arrest warrant. The suspect had broken into a shop on Avenue de la Gare when police were alerted. Upon checking his identity, officers discovered the outstanding mandate. On the order of the public prosecutor’s office, the man was taken into custody.
