On Monday the Martelange.lu group announced its intention to take over the Arlon branch of Delhaize, mere months after taking over the Recogne store in Belgium and changing to Proxy Delhaize in Martelange.
The store located on the Belgian border will open under new management from the second quarter of 2024, the group said in a statement. The company, which employs over 150 staff, said that they intended to showcase products by local artisans at the Arlon shop.
Director Jérôme Jamart said “I am convinced this takeover will also be a success,” adding that he could count on “a team in place who knows the store inside out”, and indicating that Martelange.lu would involve the existing staff in discussions to improve the customer experience “based on Delhaize’s historic strengths, such as the diversity of the stock, the products’ freshness, and attentive customer service”.
Jamart added that he was pleased with the success of the takeover and said it reinforced their confidence in this next stage. Martelange.lu is a grouping of different retail brands divided into four main sectors of activity (service stations, retail stores, Horesca and various services).
