The cause of the 6 December fire in Kayl remains unclear, as the prosecutor’s office has yet to receive a report from the police’s forensics team.
At this stage, it is only clear that the fire has turned the building uninhabitable. The six affected families are currently living in a furnished house in Raemerich, where they will be able to stay until 11 January 2023.
A total of 23 people had to be relocated after the deadly fire.
