Recent images show cattle out in the heat without any sun protection.

Elevated temperatures and a lack of rain make the life of farmers and farm animals tough. Usually, cattle are left outside until the end of October, but current hay reserves have already been used up close to exhaustion. Nevertheless, farmer Gast Welbes from Canach argues that his flock is not suffering from the circumstances.

There are three months left to the annual outside period, and farmers still hope for some amount of precipitation in that time. The ground is hot enough to recover quickly if provided with sufficient humidity.

In light of the current situation, farmers remind people that they are losing precious time with administrative hurdles, which they would like to see abolished so that they can react more quickly to the needs of animals.
