A suspect was caught attempting to break into vehicles in Bettembourg, while police also responded to a theft and an assault in the capital.

On Saturday police received multiple reports of car break-ins and theft.

In the afternoon, a suspect was seen attempting to open car doors on Route de Mondorf in Bettembourg. He was subsequently apprehended by a police patrol, and suspected stolen items were found on him – prompting the arresting officers to write-up a report.

There was another instance of a car break-in, where the perpetrator remains unknown, that occurred on Boulevard Emmanuel Servais in Limpertsberg. A vehicle’s window was smashed – prompting an investigation.

Police continue to highlight their advice on how to protect against car break-ins, with a brochure available online in PDF format.

On Saturday evening, police were called to an altercation at a petrol station in the city. At the scene, officers determined that a person had been attacked and their necklace stolen. The alleged perpetrator was held by bystanders and subsequently arrested. On the orders of the public prosecutor’s office, he was brought before an investigating judge.
