Esch"All together at one table"

RTL Today
The 3rd edition of the event was held on Saturday in Esch in rue du Clair-Chêne.

The initiative was launched three years ago by the platform "Luxembourg Transition". A 40m-long table was set up in the street to accommodate people with free food and a chance to make new acquaintances. The aim of the event was to create a moment of conviviality despite the ongoing pandemic.

Hasan Yousef, who came to the Grand Duchy from Syria five years ago, is a hobby chef who has been cooking at voluntary events for years, which he also did on Saturday: "The Syrian cuisine is actually quite known, but not everybody had a chance to get a taste of it yet, which I might be able to change today."

On the menu: falafel, taboulé, and of course, social distancing. Event organiser Nathalie Pott commented on the adapted sanitary measures at the event: "Everyone kept a 1.5m distance at all times and wore a mask. Our table was fully booked and many people showed up despite fears of the virus. So, we are happy to have contributed to the revitalisation of culture in Luxembourg."
