Following the shutdown of the Ferrero production plant in Arlon, the Luxembourg authorities extended the recall of Kinder products on Friday. All products from the production site located on the Belgian border are now affected.

Kinder Surprise, Kinder Surprise Maxi, Kinder Mini-Eggs, Schokobons, Kinder Mini Eggs, Kinder Mix Plush, Kinder Schokobons White, Kinder Happy Moments and Kinder Mix Advent Calendar are all affected.

And this is regardless of the batch or expiry date, says the Office of the Commissioner for Quality, Fraud and Food Safety.

A regularly updated list can be consulted on the Luxembourg Food Safety website. The authorities reiterated on Friday their call to stop consuming these products.

A Case in Luxembourg

Luxembourg has officially identified one case of salmonellosis to date. The link with a possible consumption of these products has not yet been confirmed.

The issue is the subject of an urgent parliamentary letter sent Friday evening to the Minister for Consumer Protection by the CSV.

For its part, Ferrero confirmed in a press release on Thursday that a salmonella contamination had already been detected on 15 December at the Arlon site. The next day, the group acknowledged internal failures and publicly apologised.
