Air Rescue currently operates seven helicopters, which are to be gradually replaced by the new Airbus helicopter model.
The helicopters have an autopilot, supporting the rescue team in their work. It also has systems that allow pilots to fly it at night. Whether they will actually be used at night in future must first be clarified together with the Grand-Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps of Luxembourg (CGDIS).
The Airbus helicopter has a maximum speed of 278 kilometres per hour, speeding up rescue operations and getting emergency doctors to patients as quickly as possible. The machine also has more space in the back for patient care.
Technicians and pilots have been training with the new helicopters for the past two months.
