
With the goal being increased security in the station (Gare) neighbourhood, the network will be extended to include the area with schools and a playground.
Additionally, there will be CCTV cameras installed on the Adolphe bridge to increase the safety of the cycling lanes.
The cameras will be installed over the coming weeks. In one year’s time, the police will examine the situation to determine whether the cameras have improved the area’s situation or caused delinquency to move to different areas, according to Bausch’s statement.
In that same vein, the minister has charged the police’s general inspectorate to work on a study on the efficiency and uses of video surveillance. Results will be published by the beginning of 2020.
