Attorney Gaston Vogel and the other defendants were acquitted on Friday in the trial at first instance. The affair concerned Vogel’s statements regarding beggars in the city. A former journalist from RTL Journal was also charged, as well as CLT-UFA, the parent company of RTL, which published the letter.
Gaston Vogel was charged by the Human Rights League for calling a Romanian beggar ‘scum’, among other things.
The court requested a fine for Vogel and stated that CLT-UFA and the journalist should appreciate the suspension of the sentence.
