The 172-metre-long red bowstring bridge is due for renovation. It has been in operation since 1994 and allows users of the A13 to cross both the railway line and the CR168 in one go.
From Monday 31 October 2022 and “until the summer of 2023,” the bridge renovation project will enter its third phase. The maximum speed limit will be 70km/h, with two lanes heading towards Pétange and one heading towards Schengen.
To start its work, the Bridges and Roads Authority will close the A13 motorway from around 9pm on Friday 28 October 2022 until around 6am on Monday
However, because preparatory work is always carried out a few hours before a motorway closure, “traffic disruptions are expected in the late afternoon” on Friday, cautions the Bridges and Roads Authority.
Several roadblocks will be set up as the A13 motorway will be closed in both directions between the Esch junction and Croix de Bettembourg.
Traffic from the A4 towards Croix de Bettembourg is diverted via the Esch junction, the A4, Croix de Cessange, the A6, Croix de Gasperich, and the A3 towards Metz.
Traffic from the A3 or the A13 towards the Esch junction is diverted via Croix de Bettembourg, the A3, Croix de Gasperich, the A6, Croix de Cessange, and the A4 towards Raemerich.
Traffic from the A3 towards Metz to the A13 towards Schengen is diverted via Croix de Bettembourg, the A3, the Dudelange interchange, the A3, and Croix de Bettembourg.
Traffic from the CR169 to the A13 towards Croix de Bettembourg is diverted via the Schifflange interchange, the A13, the Esch junction, the A4, Croix de Cessange, the A6, Croix de Gasperich, and the A3 towards Metz.
Traffic from the CR165 to the A13 towards the Esch junction is diverted via the Kayl interchange, the CR165, the CR164, the CR165, the N13, the Pontpierre interchange, and the A4 towards Raemerich.
Traffic from the CR165 to the A13 towards Croix de Bettembourg is diverted via the Kayl interchange, the CR165, the CR164, the CR165, the N13, the N31, the Livange interchange, and the A3 towards Metz.
Traffic from the N31 to the A13 towards Pétange is diverted via the Burange interchange, Croix de Bettembourg, the A3, Croix de Gasperich, the A6, Croix de Cessange, and the A4 towards Raemerich.
