The police report various incidents this weekend, ranging from drink-driving and noise disturbances to break-ins.
Early on Saturday evening, at around 6.30pm, officers noticed an individual behaving suspiciously at the Luxembourg City Christmas market. When they attempted to check on the person, the individual became aggressive and insulting. As the person was also uncooperative, heavily intoxicated, and posed a danger to themselves and others, officers decided that they would spend the night in detention. Beforehand, the person was taken for a medical examination.
Throughout the night into Sunday, officers were called out more than 30 times because of noise disturbances. In most cases, the situation had already calmed down by the time patrols arrived. When people were still present, matters were generally resolved quickly.
Drink-driving and break-ins
Police report that an intoxicated driver damaged two parked vehicles with their car on early Sunday morning. The driver was issued a report.
Several break-ins were also reported. In Frisange, burglars were scared off when the alarm system activated. In Clervaux, intruders entered a home through a garage window but were surprised by the residents. Investigations have been launched in both cases.
