There is nothing more comforting than a mug of mulled wine or warmed apple juice, the notes of cinnamon, and the harmony of seasonal scents across Luxembourg's many Christmas markets during the cold winter days.
The first winter chill of late 2025 coincides with a host of exciting Christmas markets and events for the whole family to enjoy.
For a small country, Luxembourg has a surprising amount of dedicated seasonal markets across the entire region, each with its own unique feel and charm. RTL Today looks at some of the most interesting and exciting events to look forward to this festive season.
Centre
Winterlights
21 November – 4 January
Luxembourg City will transform into a glowing winter wonderland during Winterlights, across multiple locations in the capital. Visitors can wander through beautifully illuminated streets, explore Christmas markets at Place d'Armes, Place de la Constitution, and Place de Paris, and enjoy attractions like the ice rink on the Kinnekswiss and this year's brand new Sapin Royal (royal tree) at Place Émile Hamilius. With handmade gifts, holiday treats, concerts, exhibitions, and family-friendly activities such as Winterkids, Winterlights offers a magical festive atmosphere for all ages. Public transport and park-and-ride facilities make it easy to reach the city centre and join in the celebrations.

6–21 December, Communal Park Hesperange
A family-friendly Christmas market with activities for everyone – whether you're attending with family, friends, or your dog. Enjoy a mix of food stalls, entertainment, and festive crafts, making it a perfect location for a winter outing. Vegan Xmax Market
7 and 15 December, Centre Culturel de Bonnevoie
The Vegan Society Luxembourg celebrates its tenth year and once again brings the joy of a plant-based Christmas to the city with its two-day Vegan Xmas Market. Cruelty-free snacks and drinks will be available between 12pm–8pm on Saturday, 7 December, and between 11am–6pm on Sunday, 15 December.
Mersch Christmas Market
29 November – 1 December, Place Saint-Michel
The traditional Christmas market in Mersch will again bring festive cheer to Place Saint-Michel, where around 45 chalets and stands will welcome visitors for the first Advent weekend. The festivities begin on 29 November with the arrival of Saint Nicolas near the train station, followed by a lively procession at 5.30pm heading towards the market. The official opening at 6pm includes songs performed by school pupils and the traditional handing out of treat bags to well-behaved children.
On the following day, from 11am to 6pm, visitors can enjoy a mix of culinary specialities and handmade goods. Children can look forward to stage shows featuring beloved Mickey Mouse characters at 12pm, 3.30pm, and 5pm. Pupils from Mersch’s school return to the stage on Sunday 30 November, with performances at 11am and 2pm.
Wantermaart
28–30 November, Parc Central, Bertrange
For its 16th edition, Bertrange's popular market has remained at its new location at the central park. The market opens on Friday at 6pm and runs until 10pm, Saturday from 1pm to 10pm, and Sunday from 12pm to 6pm. On Sunday at 3pm, The weekend will include choral concerts, viewings of the Grinch, and live music.

Differdange Christmas Market
5–21 December, Place du Marché
Luxembourg's oldest Christmas market, Differdange opens on Friday, 5 December, marking its 48th year. Visitors can enjoy a mix of traditional food, holiday crafts, and festive music, all set in the charming Place du Marché, as well as a free carousel ride for children.

Dudelange Christmas Market
22 November – 14 December, various locations, traditional and medieval markets
Dudelange boasts two Christmas markets. The main market, located at Place Am Duerf, offers the usual festive delights, while an additional traditional market, running from 5 to 14 December at Place de l'Hôtel de Ville, boasts over 60 stands, showcasing everything from traditional food and drinks to local crafts. This market also features entertainment for all ages.
There will be a St Nicholas procession on 30 November at 2.30pm, and a range of further activities available to view here.
Esch-sur-Alzette Christmas Market
14 November – 21 December, Place de l'Hôtel de Ville
Esch-sur-Alzette’s market is already in full swing, and has plenty to offer, including live entertainment and 24 stalls.
Pétange Christmas Market
27–30 November, Place John F. Kennedy
Located in southern Luxembourg, Pétange offers a quaint and cozy market perfect for those looking to enjoy a slower-paced Christmas atmosphere. With charming stalls and delicious festive food, it’s a great place to experience the holiday spirit. Bascharage Christmas Market
5–7 December, Place Claus Cito
This market offers a lively mix of live music, from professional performances to those by the local music school. Over the course of its three days, the market also serves delicious food, drinks, and holiday treats, making it a great place to enjoy the festive atmosphere while supporting local talent. Mondorf-les-Bains Christmas Market
28 November – 14 December, Place des Villes Pimmelées
A weekend-only market, Mondorf-les-Bains hosts this festive gathering on Fridays from 4pm to 9pm, Saturdays from 12pm to 9pm, and Sundays from 12pm to 8pm. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy food, gifts, and entertainment while taking in the beautiful surroundings of the spa town.
Grevenmacher Christmas Market
13–14 December, Place du Marché
The market at Grevenmacher offers a perfect blend of Christmas decorations, locally crafted gifts, and live entertainment. Visitors can also enjoy food and drinks from local associations. The festive spirit is enhanced by a variety of performances, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Echternach Christmas Market
12–14 December, Place du Marché
Set in Luxembourg's oldest city, the Echternach Christmas Market offers a charming historical backdrop for holiday shopping and enjoyment. Visitors can explore a range of stalls offering unique gifts and festive treats, all while surrounded by the rich history of the city. De Wanterfestival / Winter Street Food & Shopping
13–14 December, Remich Swimming Pool Parking Lot
Remich is hosting a range of Christmas markets and events this year, and the Winter Street Food & Shopping market focuses on delicious street food and unique gifts. This market is perfect for foodies, with a range of street food offerings to enjoy while browsing gifts. Additionally, there’s other markets at the same spot on different weekends.
Hobby Christmas Market in Mertert
12–14 December, Park Mertert
The Hobby Christmas Market in Mertert offers more than just shopping. In addition to festive stalls selling arts and crafts, there are carousels for kids, live music, and entertainment. If you're looking for a Christmas tree, you can also find one here, making it a great family destination. On Sunday, 14 December St Nicholas will visit the town, and there are a range of musical and festive events for the entire family.

Vianden Christmas Market

Vianden transforms into a magical winter wonderland for its Christmas market on 29 November. Local associations will offer a selection of festive treats, and there will be craft workshops and fun activities for children. Visitors can also meet Santa Claus, making it a perfect event for families.
Christmas at the Castle
5–6 December, Useldange
This unique Christmas market is set in a castle, offering a charming and picturesque backdrop for a festive celebration. Visitors can enjoy local crafts, food, and entertainment, all while experiencing the medieval atmosphere of Useldange Castle.
Clervaux Christmas Market
7 December, Town Centre
Clervaux is transformed into a winter wonderland town during 28 November to 1 December, with a Christmas market on 7 December, where visitors can explore outdoor stands and enjoy mulled wine, hot chestnuts, and local delicacies. The market also features entertainment, making it a delightful destination for holiday shoppers. Diekirch Christmas Market
19–21 December, Pedestrian Zone
Diekirch's Christmas market is set in the heart of the town, offering a festive experience in its pedestrian zone. With a variety of stalls, food, and entertainment, this market is the perfect way to wrap up the Christmas season.
