On Friday, UNESCO held its 43rd general conference in Samarkan, Uzbekistan, where Luxembourg joined the executive board.

The Grand Duchy’s candidacy proved successful, as they were elected with 165 votes, according to a government statement on Friday.

This marks the second occasion Luxembourg has been a member of the board, as they were first elected in 2005 and held the role until 2009.

This time, Luxembourg’s priorities on the committee are to include education, culture, communication and science.
