From 15 October to 14 November, motorists can have their headlights and tyres checked free of charge at participating garages, inspection stations, and the Automobile Club of Luxembourg (ACL).

Vehicles found to be in good condition will receive an official sticker certifying compliance.

Drivers should note that inspection locations and schedules differ from last year and are available on www.acl.lu.

As part of this annual road safety campaign by the road safety association Sécurité Routière, police will increase roadside checks until the end of December to ensure that tyres meet legal standards and that headlights function properly.

The campaign, organised by the association, aims to promote safer driving by ensuring proper visibility and vehicle condition ahead of winter. Police will conduct increased roadside checks until the end of December to verify tyre suitability and headlight functionality.

Until 19 November, headlight inspections will remain in a preventive phase: if defects are found, drivers will have five days to repair them and present their vehicle to police without a fine. However, defective tyres will result in penalties.

Drivers are also reminded in the press release that winter tyres are mandatory in icy or snowy conditions and that the minimum tread depth is 1.6 mm, though 4 mm is recommended for better grip and safety.
