Five years after a fatal crash in the Gousselerbierg tunnel on the A7, the prosecution has presented its sentencing recommendations.
The prosecution has requested a six-month prison sentence, which could be suspended, along with a fine and a four-year driving ban.
The case concerns a fatal crash on 8 July 2020, when a Polish lorry struck the last car in a queue of traffic. The impact pushed the vehicle into a van, killing two young fathers.
This week, the court reviewed the circumstances of the accident. Investigators found that the traffic jam had been caused by a woman who slowed down in the tunnel before coming to a complete stop, creating a long line of vehicles behind her.
She has been charged with causing the traffic obstruction. During the hearing, she said she stopped because of technical problems with her car.
The verdict is expected on 27 November.
