Residents of Erpeldange-sur-Sûre will vote next month on whether to authorise their council to continue talks on a major merger that would form a new "Nordstad" with Diekirch, Ettelbruck, and Schieren.
The municipality of Erpeldange-sur-Sûre will hold a referendum on 23 November regarding a potential merger with neighbouring communes to form a new entity called "Nordstad".
In the vote, citizens will be asked if they support the municipal council's decision to proceed with exploratory talks for a merger involving Diekirch, Ettelbruck, and Schieren.
According to a council announcement on Tuesday, an informational leaflet will be distributed to all households at the end of October. Voting is compulsory for both Luxembourgish citizens and foreign nationals who are registered on the electoral roll.
Residents abroad must apply for a postal vote by 14 October, while those within Luxembourg have until 29 October to request one.
