Eltrona customers across Luxembourg experienced widespread service interruptions Thursday afternoon after the company's network was accidentally damaged.
A network outage impacted customers of Luxembourg internet service provider Eltrona on Thursday afternoon. The company has attributed the disruption to accidental damage caused to its equipment during work performed by Creos in the south of the country.
In a statement, Eltrona explained that the damage is resulting in service interruptions for both internet and television in several areas. Issues were reported across a wide range of municipalities, including the regions of Grevenmacher, Wasserbillig, Wormeldange, Echternach, Ettelbruck, Wecker, Lenningen, and Consdorf.
According to reader reports, the outage began for some customers between 3pm and 4pm, while others experienced service loss later in the day.
Eltrona confirms that its technical teams have been dispatched to address the problem. The company anticipates that normal service will be restored by Friday.
