In Bertrange, more precisely along Avenue de Luxembourg near Findelshaff, there are no fewer than five meadows where anyone can pick flower bouquets free of charge.

Who hasn't been in that situation? You urgently need a bouquet for your partner, your mother, or perhaps even your mother-in-law, but the nearest florist is too far away, already closed, or simply too expensive. The flower meadows offer a welcome alternative.

Whether it's to pick flowers, take a walk, snap some photos, or simply enjoy the colourful atmosphere, visitors in Bertrange can benefit from around 22 hectares of meadows spread across five plots. From sunflowers to marigolds, a total of 18 different flower species can be admired, smelled, and picked.

The municipality of Bertrange invests around €4,000 each year to maintain the meadows, supporting nature and biodiversity in a sustainable way, explained mayor Youri de Smet.

The idea, he noted, was to create something that would bring joy to local residents, giving them the chance to gather their own bouquets directly from the fields.

And so far, that goal has been achieved. People of all ages stop by, curious to experience a moment surrounded by blossoms. Normally, picking flowers or plants directly from fields is not permitted, but in Bertrange clear signs show where the public is welcome to help themselves.
