Around 200 older C3 and DS3 Citroën models in Luxembourg are still on the road with defective Takata airbags, despite multiple recall warnings, according to Economy Minister Lex Delles in an answer to a parliamentary question by Pirate Party MP Marc Georgen.
Since the start of the year, more than 1,100 car owners have been contacted by Stellantis over problems linked to defective Takata airbags.
At the height of summer, over 350 vehicles were still affected by the do-not-drive order first introduced in France and extended to other countries, including Luxembourg.
By the end of August, however, 200 drivers in Luxembourg had still not responded to the recall procedure launched by the Luxembourg Institute for Standardisation, Accreditation, Safety, and Quality of Products and Services (ILNAS). This means these vehicles continue to circulate with potentially faulty airbags.
If left unrepaired, the safety devices may not function properly in the event of a collision, putting drivers at serious risk.
