After stepping down as Luxembourg's national men's team coach, Luc Holtz has swiftly secured a new role, taking charge of German third-division club Waldhof Mannheim.
Following his request to terminate his contract with the Luxembourg Football Federation (FLF), Luc Holtz has been confirmed as the new head coach of German third-division club Waldhof Mannheim.
The 56-year-old was officially unveiled during a press conference on Tuesday at 1pm, though the length of his contract remains undisclosed. Holtz expressed enthusiasm for his new role, emphasising his commitment to the historic Baden-Württemberg club and their long-term ambition to reach the second Bundesliga.
Holtz plans to implement a playing style similar to the one he used with Luxembourg's national team – combining ball possession with defensive solidity. He takes over from Dominik Glawogger, who was dismissed as head coach on Monday evening. Notably, Holtz's former assistant at Luxembourg, Mario Mutsch, did not follow him to Mannheim.
Currently, Waldhof Mannheim sits in 15th place in the third division with just one point after two matchdays. The club has previous ties to Luxembourg football, with national team captain Laurent Jans having played there between 2022 and 2024.
