Parc Merveilleux has shared the first adorable footage of its newborn Iberian wolf pups, a week after announcing their birth.

Exactly one week after announcing their birth on Facebook, Parc Merveilleux in Bettembourg is now sharing the first glimpses of its newest arrivals: a litter of Iberian wolf pups.

While the mother initially kept the three to four pups hidden in the safety of the den, one of the pups can be seen bounding through the greenery, pausing briefly to sniff a tree before disappearing from view, in a video released on Wednesday.

The wolf parents, both from a subspecies native to northern Spain and Portugal, only arrived at the park earlier this year. In the 1970s, excessive hunting had brought the species down to just 50 known couples, with Iberian Wolves now part of a European protection scheme.
