The Luxembourgish Government announced on Thursday that US aerospace company Blue Origin will establish its first European office in Luxembourg, signalling a major expansion of its operations across the continent.
The move follows high-level discussions between Luxembourg’s Minister of the Economy, Lex Delles, and Blue Origin’s CEO David Limp, along with Vice President of Global Supply Chain Tim Collins.
The new office will serve as the central hub for managing Blue Origin’s European supply chain and supporting the company’s ongoing growth in the region. It will also contribute to advancing commercial space services, including lunar transport, in-space mobility, and resource utilization, as part of Luxembourg’s SpaceResources.lu initiative – a national strategy promoting sustainable and peaceful space exploration.
"The arrival of Blue Origin in Luxembourg marks a major milestone for our space ecosystem", said Minister Delles. "This choice confirms the attractiveness of our regulatory framework and our vision for innovation and sustainable space exploration. We are proud to welcome a leading global player and look forward to building the future of the European space economy together."
Created in 2000 by Amazon's founder Jeff Bezos, Blue Origin focuses on developing reusable launch vehicles and advanced space technologies. Its key projects include the New Glenn heavy-lift rocket and the Blue Moon lunar lander, selected by NASA for its Artemis missions.
CEO David Limp praised Luxembourg’s strategic location and commitment to space development, adding that the Grand Duchy's investment in the space sector and its long-term vision align with Blue Origin's goals for growth and innovation.
The announcement also included the signing of a declaration of intent to deepen cooperation between Blue Origin and the Luxembourg government in areas related to space technology and exploration.
