Police on Tuesday evening announced that a man in his early 20s, who had allegedly been shot in a street gunfight in Audun-le-Tiche, was admitted to the Emile Mayrisch hospital centre in neighbouring Esch-sur-Alzette later that same day. Hospital staff reported that the victim, who was dropped off by a friend at around 5pm, was bleeding from an arm and a leg upon arrival.

The Grand Ducal Police have since confirmed receiving simultaneous alerts shortly before 6pm – one from the hospital, the other from witnesses in Audun-le-Tiche – about gunfire in the French border town, located roughly five kilometres from Esch.

The young man’s condition was not disclosed. Investigators from both Luxembourg and France are jointly collecting witness testimony and seeking suspects as the cross-border probe continues.
