With Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Prime Minister Luc Frieden in attendance, Nexus 2025 launched its second edition Tuesday featuring record turnout and major announcements about Luxembourg's AI ambitions.
The second edition of the Nexus conference launched Tuesday at Luxexpo The Box in Kirchberg under the banner "Accelerating AI and technology for a better future." Organisers reported strong attendance, with 7,500 participants on opening morning – surpassing last year's inaugural event figures.
The conference drew high-profile attendees including Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Prime Minister Luc Frieden, who used the platform to announce a strategic partnership with European AI firm Mistral AI. Frieden described the company as "a new, young player" and "the only major player in Europe," emphasising Luxembourg's commitment to establishing a European foothold in artificial intelligence development rather than leaving the field dominated by US and Chinese companies.
According to the Prime Minister, the collaboration will focus on enhancing government efficiency, particularly in implementing EU directives and financial sector applications. The agreement also includes provisions for cooperation with Luxembourg's public research institutions.
The three-day event commenced Monday with an informal networking session across six Luxembourg City bars. Nexus 2025 continues through Wednesday.
