A cross-border crackdown on alleged corruption within NATO's procurement agency saw simultaneous police operations in six nations, with Luxembourg authorities seizing documents and foreign partners making arrests.
Luxembourg's criminal police conducted multiple searches nationwide as part of an international investigation into alleged corruption involving current and former officials of the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA).
The public prosecutor's office confirmed the operations, which targeted individuals suspected of abusing their positions for personal gain, in a statement released on Wednesday.
Authorities executed the searches under the supervision of a Luxembourg examining magistrate following a request from the prosecutor's office. Investigators seized documents relevant to the ongoing probe. Coordinated actions simultaneously took place in Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, and the United States, resulting in several arrests.
Eurojust facilitated the international coordination of the operation. Luxembourg's judicial authorities acknowledged the NSPA's cooperation, noting the agency's "crucial role in initiating the case" and its "ongoing assistance throughout the investigation."
