On Thursday, Fondation Cancer announced that it had recently detected suspicious activity in one of its email accounts.

An investigation into irregular activity in one of Fondation Cancer's email accounts confirmed that the organisation had been the target of a malicious cyberattack.

According to a press release, there is no indication that any data was compromised, and the functioning of the foundation – which focuses on supporting cancer patients – has not been disrupted. As soon as the breach was identified, appropriate measures were immediately taken to contain the threat and prevent further damage.

The foundation explained that it chose to go public with the incident in the interest of transparency. Luxembourg’s National Data Protection Commission (CNPD) has also been informed.

The cyberattack is not believed to be connected to the foundation’s financial operations. No bank accounts or transactions were affected.

Supporters of the organisation are advised to remain cautious and not to respond to any suspicious messages. Those with concerns or seeking further information are encouraged to get in touch with the foundation by phone or email (fondation@cancer.lu oder +352 45 30 331).

Established in 1994 in Luxembourg, Fondation Cancer has been active for over 25 years in the field of cancer support and awareness. Alongside its focus on prevention, early detection, and living with cancer, one of its core missions is to provide assistance to patients and their families.
