If you come across a dapper group of motorcyclists roaming the streets of Luxembourg in May, then you have likely just spotted The Distinguished Gentleman's charity ride.
The annual charity event that sees gentlefolk come together for a sharp-looking ride on their classic motorcycles is set to take place once more in Luxembourg, on 18 May.
The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride (DGR) is an annual gathering of bikers that takes place all over the world, but here's the twist: they dress up to the nines and ride out in support of various charitable organisations.
This year marks the 12th edition of the event in the Grand Duchy. According to Mark Kitchell, member of the organising team for the DGR in Luxembourg, the country has seen a total of nearly 900 riders get together and raise close to €79,000 to support Men's charity 'Movember' throughout the years.
Last year's ride brought over 150 people to the Grand Duchy's roads, achieving more than €10,000 in donations. You can find some photos of the event in our gallery below.
This year's edition already has 70 registered gentlefolk, raising €3,389 so far. Registrations will be open until the actual date, so it's definitely not too late if you would like to take your vintage metal friend on a charitable ride.
Fellow event organiser Ignacio Fernandez adds that the 2025 ride will be even more special, as the gathering will depart from the iconic Place de la Constitution in Luxembourg City.
You can visit the official website for more information on the event.
How did all this come about?
The global charity event has been held annually since 2012 when it was established by Mark Hawwa in Sydney, Australia.
The concept is said to have originated after Hawwa saw an image of the character Don Draper from the hit TV show Mad Men sitting on a classic motorcycle in a sharp suit. The striking contrast between the two styles inspired the idea of using this unique combination to draw attention to important causes like mental health and cancer research.
It has since become a worldwide staple, and the Grand Duchy is no exception.
So, put on your Sunday best, hop on your classic bike, and rev up for a good cause!
