Luxembourg's Luxair airline has announced that it has cancelled flights between Luxembourg and Germany on Sunday evening, with Monday flights also being cancelled due to strikes at German airports.
Germany's second largest trade union Verdi has organised a 24-hour strike over a wage dispute. The strikes organised at German airports are having an impact on Luxembourg's flight connections. On Sunday, Luxair confirmed that it had had to unexpectedly cancel return flights between Luxembourg City and Hamburg, "due to the evolving situation at Hamburg airport".
The situation will not improve this Monday. The flight from Hamburg to Luxembourg has already been cancelled. In contrast, the Luxembourg to Hamburg flight is still operating but is "subject to changes as the situation evolves," according to Luxair
Luxair had already announced that it had cancelled flights to Berlin on Monday. Uncertainty still surrounds the flights linking Findel to Munich, in the Luxembourg-Munich direction. However, the Munich-Luxembourg flight has been cancelled. "Passengers affected will be offered an alternative route," according to Luxair, which adds that it is working “actively to minimise the impact of these disruptions” and will continue "to proactively contact all affected passengers with updated information."
For more information, concerned travellers are advised to check the Luxair website on whether or not their flight is being operated.
