A disciplinary issue involving a municipal employee in Hesperange has sparked new tensions, with an email from Mayor Marc Lies surfacing in which he used harsh language to criticise opposition members.

A disciplinary matter involving a municipal employee in Hesperange continues creating tensions between the local majority and the opposition. The situation took a new turn when a contentious email from Marc Lies, Mayor and MP for the Christian Social People's Party (CSV), surfaced.

RTL obtained the email, which was addressed to "friends" and contains harsh language aimed at opposition members.

Green Party Councillor Stephen de Ron is thus labelled a "clown" who "talks nonsense". Meanwhile, Mathis Godefroid, former member of the Pirate Party and now with the Luxembourg Socialist Workers' Party (LSAP), is described by the mayor as someone who would fit into a party obsessed with image and superficiality.

Lies further vows to take on both figures in the upcoming municipal council meeting on 14 March to foil what he describes as an attempt to orchestrate a scandal.

In response to RTL's inquiry, Lies defended the municipality's actions, asserting that all legal and administrative requirements had been met. He accused the opposition of engaging in public bullying of the administration.

Meanwhile, Godefroid expressed his shock at the mayor's comments, labelling them defamatory and insolent. He stressed that the opposition had simply been fulfilling its role by holding the administration accountable.
