The municipality of Hesperange has referred the case of a misused badge system to the public prosecutor's office, while disciplinary action against the employee is being finalised.
As reported by reporter.lu, a municipal employee in Hesperange systematically misused the badge system for logging work hours, resulting in fewer hours worked than required. The mayoral council stated that no further details could be disclosed at the moment.
According to the council, a government commissioner was entrusted with the case, reviewing the files before passing them on to the disciplinary council for civil servants. The commune's statement further announced that the commission decided to penalise the civil servant with disciplinary measures which the council is going to implement. What that penalty consists of was not mentioned.
The commune of Hesperange had already forwarded the file to the public prosecutor's office, as confirmed in a press release on Friday.
At the next mayoral council, the town council intends to request an authorisation to function as the civil party in the case.
