Six Luxembourg municipalities are set to welcome new pharmacies, expanding the current network of 102 establishments.

The Ministry of Health has officially issued authorisations for pharmacies in Strassen, Rood-sur-Syre, Weiswampach, Clémency, Schengen, and Helperknapp. Interested parties now have one month to submit their applications, though specific opening dates remain unclear.

The pharmacy sector is undergoing significant developments, with the pharmacy union preparing for discussions with the government. These talks aim to redefine the roles and services offered by pharmacies, particularly in areas such as healthcare prevention, including vaccinations. Currently, pharmacy openings are governed by a quota system, which the union is advocating to abolish.
