In its assessment of the proposed state budget for 2025, Luxembourg's Chamber of Civil Servants and Public Employees accused the government of "confusing" citizens in the context of the pension debate.

The Chamber of Civil Servants and Public Employees (CHFEP) has warned the government against changing Luxembourg's pension system without consulting with social partners.

In its assessment of the proposed state budget for 2025, dated 14 November 2024, the CHFEP criticised the government for "confusing" the public, which it believes has led to "tensions".

The CHFEP argues that there is little point in looking as far ahead as 2070 and painting a picture of doom and gloom.

Regarding the overall draft budget, the CHFEP highlighted that income has increased more quickly than expenditure. The chamber also underscored the need for a strong state, not least because administrative simplification, while reducing the number of procedures for citizens, will increase the workload for civil servants.
