The anaesthetist who took a selfie during a rescue intervention in spring is now facing the consequences of his actions, which could mean the loss of his job.

The incident which took place during an accident in the spring was captured by a video which RTL has access to. The video shows the rescue scene at the end of March in Crauthem, displaying how the emergency doctor was waiting to intervene while his fellow paramedics were working on the damaged car. It would appear that the doctor used his idle time to take a quick selfie.

The inappropriate gesture led to a disciplinary procedure launched by Paul Schroeder, general director of the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS). The doctor was provisionally dismissed from his emergency practices in June, the CGDIS confirmed upon RTL’s request.

At the moment the CGDIS disciplinary council is looking into the case. The council will decide whether the doctor violated internal regulations of the Fire and Rescue corps, which could lead to disciplinary punishment including termination of his contract.

Whether the CGDIS intend to press charges at the Collège Médical is as of yet unknown.
