Fear and incomprehension gripped residents of Cosnes-et-Romain in France last week after a body was discovered on Friday morning.

The French gendarmerie announced that the body of a man in his fifties was found on Friday morning in Cosnes-et-Romain.

According to the Meurthe-et-Moselle gendarmerie, the man was found on the fitness trail by a playground located close to Longwy's municipal borders.

"The man was likely jogging when he collapsed," the gendarmerie explained. They have nevertheless launched an appeal for witnesses to identify the man, who had no identifying documents on him.

He was "a man in his fifties, brown eyes, shaven hair, salt-and-pepper beard, wearing a pair of glasses". The victim was wearing "grey jogging bottoms, red and black trainers and a blue ADIDAS jacket."
