Bettembourg will mark the 80th anniversary of its liberation from German occupation with a series of commemorative events scheduled for the weekend of 13 to 15 September.

On 11 September 1944, Bettembourg was liberated by US troops, ending four years of German occupation. To honour this historic milestone, a series of events are planned.

The celebrations will begin with a screening of the documentary "The Ghost Army – Operation Bettembourg," featuring US director Rick Beyer (in English).

On 14 September, the festivities will continue with a parade followed by a "Liberation Party" from 11am to 5pm. This event promises a "US-style" celebration with food stalls and various attractions, including an exhibition of WWII-era military vehicles.

The weekend will conclude with a concert by the Luxembourg Army's marching band on 15 September.
