The Luxembourg National Railway Company (CFL) has announced that train services in Northern Luxembourg will be partially suspended for modernisation and maintenance work.
This is part of an effort to update the railway network, which has seen a 100% increase in passenger numbers over the past 20 years. In 2023, a total of 28.7 million people travelled by train.
To minimise disruption, CFL has scheduled the work during school holidays and after the collective leave period. From 31 August to 15 September, there will be no train service between Ettelbruck and Gouvy, as well as between Kautenbach and Wiltz. According to CFL, this timing also accommodates passengers who wish to visit the Schueberfouer 2024, which began on 23 August.
During this period, train services will be replaced by bus services. Updated timetables will be published on the CFL website at cfl.lu.
Additionally, a bike shuttle service will be available, running every two hours between Ettelbruck and Troisvierges, with stops at Clervaux and Schinker.
