The Schueberfouer, one of the most anticipated summer events, is fast approaching, but with only about twenty days until kickoff, details about the 2024 edition remain scarce.
In anticipation of the region's most renowned fair, the Glacis parking area is experiencing a surge in activity.
Last week, the City of Luxembourg announced that half of the parking spots in the area were no longer available. The city also confirmed that soon all parking spaces in the heart of Limpertsberg will be closed to the public, marking the final stages of preparation.
The remaining spots will be inaccessible starting this Sunday, 4 August, from 10 pm, a development familiar to local residents and workers in the neighborhood.
The 2024 edition of the Schueberfouer opens on Friday, August 23. This year’s edition remains somewhat mysterious, as the City of Luxembourg has not yet provided detailed information.
Typically, details about the Schueberfouer are released to the press a month in advance.
Some details have been confirmed. The dates and opening hours of the "Fouer," as its biggest fans call it, have been set. It will start on 23 August, likely in the early afternoon, and will end late at night on 11 September.
The Schueberfouer will be open every day from noon to 1am, with restaurants allowed to open from 11am, as noted on the city’s website.
The program details, including special days like Reduced Price Day, Mayors' Day, or Queens' Day, will be announced "in due course".
New attractions, stands, and restaurants are expected, with the City of Luxembourg soon to unveil the specifics of this year's edition, only 23 days away.
More than 200 fairground establishments set up each year in Limpertsberg, with around fifteen restaurants and nearly 70 stands offering sweet or savory snacks.
The Schueberfouer will most likely conclude with a fireworks display, as it does every year, launched from the Grande-Duchesse Charlotte Bridge.
For those unfamiliar with Luxembourg's biggest events, further information on the Schueberfouer's history is available here.
