On Monday, the Chamber of Deputies published 8 new petitions which can be signed online until August 20. Petitions that gather at least 4,500 signatures by this date will be discussed in a public debate in the Chamber.

The petitions cover a range of topics, including the introduction of a clear national law to regulate the use of fireworks on New Year's Eve. Another petition demands that prices at Luxembourg's annual funfair need to be reduced as the "Schueberfouer" is an important part of Luxembourgish culture and lower income families should be able to take part in it too. Another petitioner demands that an obligatory first aid course be introduced for anyone trying to obtain their driver's license.

A petition that has gained lots of traction, amassing almost 2000 signatures within the span of two days, calls for a ban on teaching LGBTQ+ content to minors in schools citing "a difference in religious and family values."

Further details can be found on the Chamber's official website.
