In the recently concluded summer session of secondary school final exams in Luxembourg, 74% of candidates successfully passed, a similar percentage compared to the previous year's results.
The Luxembourg Ministry of Education confirmed on Tuesday that 2,788 students successfully passed their exams, paving the way towards their higher education opportunities. The deferral rate remained unchanged at 15%, with 575 students scheduled to retake exams in September. Notably, the fail rate decreased slightly from 11% to 10% since 2023, affecting around 370 students who need to retake all exams and, in most cases, repeat the school year.
Classical secondary education reported the highest pass rate at 85%, surpassing the overall success rate of 66% for secondary education in Luxembourg.
The Ministry also highlighted a slight performance difference between young women and young men in classical secondary education, with women achieving an 86% pass rate compared to men's 84%. However, when considering the overall averages, both genders achieved an equal 66% success rate.
