Meteolux has issued a new yellow alert, warning of the risk of thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds and heavy rainfall.

The summer solstice, marking the official start of summer, occurred on Thursday, 20 June. Considering that recent weather has been anything but summer-like, you are forgiven if you have not noticed.

On Friday, things are not going to get any better, quite the contrary in fact: Météolux has issued a yellow alert for the entire country, valid from 12pm to 5pm. Thunderstorms are possible, with gusts of up to 70 km/h and rainfall between 10 and 20 litres per square metre in a short period, particularly in the late afternoon. Temperatures will approach 20°C, and the night is likely to be foggy.

With such heavy rainfall, drivers should be cautious of aquaplaning, and those walking in the countryside or near watercourses should take care.
