Subsidies for new electric vehicles will be lowered, however, as of 1 October 2024.
The government has announced a €1,500 subsidy for second-hand electric vehicles older than three years.
Prime Minister Luc Frieden announced the measures during his State of the Nation speech on Tuesday afternoon, with the new rules coming into effect on 1 October 2024.
However, subsidies for new electric cars will be reduced from a maximum amount of €8,000 to €6,000 for cars below 18kWh/100km.
The subsidy for cars between 16 and 18kWh/100km remains at €3,000.
The government will stop offering its €600 bonus scheme for e-bikes, unless it is a cargo bike, for which €1,000 is offered.
Furthermore, the current programme offering up to 62.5% financing for solar panels will be reduced to 50%. Subsidies for energy renovation and heat pumps remain unchanged.
To authorise more wind turbines and areas with solar panels, the rules for building them are to be relaxed to allow for closer construction to highways.
