145 people applied for asylum in March

Compared to March 2023, there was a slight reduction in the number of applications. The General Department of Immigration stated on Monday that 145 people submitted asylum applications in Luxembourg in March of this year. The number of applications has remained relatively stable over the past couple of months compared to the preceding two years.

The conflict in Ukraine prompted Luxembourg to grant temporary protection to Ukrainian nationals. In March 2024, 76 such applications were submitted, with 68 originating from Ukraine. Since the beginning of the year, a total of 188 requests for temporary protection have been recorded.
